Samhain is the ancient Celtic festival welcoming the dark half of the year, which is celebrated at the end of October. And my Samhain Perfume was custom-made right here at Sage Goddess Headquarters, with oils specifically chosen to welcome in shadow season. It includes dragon’s blood for protection and clearing, black patchouli for grounding and abundance, and natural vanilla bean, which is a powerful aphrodisiac. Each bottle is infused with a black obsidian and carnelian chip stone – black obsidian for protection, cleansing, and healing, and carnelian for courage, optimism, and empowerment. The deeper magic of my Samhain Perfume

Samhain predates modern Halloween and means ‘summer’s end’ in Gaelic. It falls on Halloween night and is considered the end of the Celtic year. Samhain is the Velvet Curtain – a metaphor for the veil between worlds that is both thin and dark, comforting and protective, mysterious and magical. It’s a time of regeneration and new beginnings, when we get to gracefully let go of what no longer serves us, and surrender it to the night. Even before I ‘knew’ or learned that Samhain was the Celtic new year, I always had this feeling right around November 1 that the planet was rebirthing itself. Something seems new, seems fresh and available on the morning after Samhain, or Halloween. And it is. On the night of October 31, we say goodbye to many things – to the spirits who have crossed the veil to commune with us, to the crops and harvests we lost this year, and to the year itself, with all its blessings and challenges. Instead of creating resolutions on January 1 each year, most magical practitioners set intentions on November 1, which for us is the real ‘start’ of the year ahead. 

Samhain’s potent energies and intentions inspired my Samhain Perfume, which includes notes of dragon’s blood, black patchouli, and natural vanilla bean.
