Samhain is an ancient Celtic festival of death and rebirth that falls on October 31. The nights are growing longer, and time is catching up with us. Samhain is the Velvet Curtain — a metaphor for the veil between worlds that is both thin and dark, comforting and protective, mysterious and magical. During Samhain, the veil between the living and the dead is at its thinnest, and this year, we are marking the occasion by celebrating the Black Wedding — the union between Persephone and Hades, the Queen and King of the Dead.

Once solely the goddess of spring, when Persephone married Hades, she became Queen of the Underworld. Most tales suggest she was taken against her will, but you and I know the story goes a little differently: Persephone wanted to taste the forbidden fruits, to leave the comforts of home and explore deep, dark passions that were dormant within her, waiting to be awakened.

The deeper magic of The Black Wedding Samhain Set

You will receive the following:

One (1) Persephone’s Wooden Hope Chest (about 6”), custom-made just for Sage Goddess from Scotch pine, featuring a brass lock and key. The lock is adorned with a black obsidian skull cabochon carved from stone sourced from Mexico. A hope chest is a cherished box, usually handed down through the matrilineal side of a family, filled with carefully selected heirlooms, linens, and keepsakes, lovingly collected over time. Each item within whispers tales of hope, tradition, and a future filled with love and joy. It’s a treasure trove of dreams and aspirations waiting to be realized.

• Pine is a powerful bringer of wisdom and longevity. The pine tree has been revered since ancient times for its qualities of strength and healing.
• Brass is a mixture of copper and zinc. It’s believed to help eliminate toxins in the body and boost courage and confidence. It can assist you with being more assertive. Brass helps to bring out the good in people and promotes inner truth.
• Black obsidian is a powerfully protective and cleansing Earth Star and Root Chakra stone. It forms a shield of protective energy that abates and absorbs negative frequencies and blocks psychic attacks.
• Skulls hold our secrets and carry our wisdom. Even after we transition from this life, skulls are said to hold and channel the knowledge they obtain from us and can transfer that information and wisdom to others. Crystal skulls help us reconnect with the past to create a better future.

Six (6) Almandine Garnet Pomegranate Seeds (about 0.3-0.45”) in a black velvet bag, with stone sourced from China. These almandine garnets, semi-carved to represent pomegranate seeds, are to be placed within your hope chest during our ceremony. They represent your ancestors’ dreams for you, your goals for yourself, and the legacy you wish to leave behind for those yet to come. Just as Persephone ate six pomegranate seeds to commit herself to Hades and returning to the underworld for six months out of every year, these garnets represent your commitment to yourself to making your dreams come true.

Almandine garnet is a protective, calming, and stabilizing Root Chakra gem that pulls your spirit back to center. It’s a wonderful ally for gently grounding you and your dreams to manifest desires.

One (1) 20 ml bottle of Black Wedding Perfume. Handcrafted right here at Sage Goddess Headquarters, this alcohol-based perfume comes in an ornate metal bottle embellished with a blue rhinestone. This deep, intoxicating scent contains notes of rose geranium, patchouli, jasmine, labdanum, clove, pomegranate, and primrose. To add to the magic, every bottle is infused with a ruby chip stone for passion and remembrance and a black obsidian chip stone for clearing and protection.

One (1) 3 oz Black Wedding Intention Candle, lovingly hand-poured right here at Sage Goddess Headquarters with a black soy wax blend in a beautiful matte black glass jar. It’s laced with notes of rose, labdanum, pomegranate, patchouli, and mint. The properties of labdanum, pomegranate, and patchouli are described above. This candle is also infused with a tumbled black tourmaline for powerful protection, topped with a mini quartz point for amplifying and directing energy, and sprinkled with 24k gold leaf for conducting energy.
