The “phantom” is caused by a pause in the crystals growth, leaving a partial or complete “phantom” within the crystal after it continued to grow. This pause in growth can last for thousands of years. It’s extraordinary to find them as clear and perfect as you see here in these pieces. They are also the perfect illustration of the butterfly principle: growth, apparent inactivity and rebirth. From limitation comes something beautiful. Look at the druzy crystal formations around the individual points. Don’t they add an amazing amount of sparkle to this gorgeous cluster?
