October 2018 Sabbatical Set – Magic of Japan: Eternal Sanctuaries

This year in Magical Sabbatical, we are exploring “A World of Magic.” Each month, we learn about the magical practices of a different civilization. Our exploration spans from ancient to contemporary times. Together, we tap into the power of these magical societies, infusing our own modern practices with their ancient magic. Included in our discovery are each culture’s associated myths and lore that have captivated imaginations for ages.

This October, we are exploring the spiritual energy of Imperial Japan. Our October 2018 Magical Sabbatical Set – Magic of Japan: Eternal Sanctuaries is filled with tools intentionally chosen to help you create an eternal sanctuary, inside yourself and out. It’s time to release, revive, and shine!

Every twenty years, the Japanese hold a sacred ceremony called “Sengu”. The purpose is to rebuild Amaterasu’s shrine (the Sun goddess), which takes place in the Ise City. Rebuilding her shrine renders her sanctuary eternal, and the skills of shrine builders and craftsmen are also passed on from generation to generation. Sacred treasures, clothing, rice, and wheat are all offerings that remain in the shrine, until it is rebuilt twenty years later.

During this Sabbatical class, we will rebuild! Let’s take apart your altar and remove tools that no longer serve you. Write a letter to your future self, seal it up and read it a year later. Let’s honor the bright light provided from Amaterasu and make an altar of courage – one that stands in an abundance of beauty and illuminating energy.

Each set comes with:

One (1) 15 ml bottle of Amaterasu Perfume, named after the sun goddess of Imperial Japan. This perfume is blended with cleansing and empowering notes of ginger, cedar, and lemongrass. Each bottle is infused with a sunstone chip stone to fill you with clarity and optimism.

One (1) 6 oz Taiyō Candle, hand-poured with deep yellow soy wax and infused with a clear quartz chip stone – to invoke your inherent power.

However, when this is not possible, we gather items that we believe reflect the energy of this civilization. Athena will discuss in class which items are sourced from the country of focus, and which ones simply reflect or represent the energy of this civilization.
