This New Moon Enchanted Plant Wisdom: Mugwort and Labdanum Set is the sixth kit of our New Moon 2020 ventures into sacred plant medicine! These are the tools we’ll be working with in ritual next month. June’s new moon in Cancer falls on the 20th (just before midnight Pacific Time). This new moon will also be a solar eclipse, AND it falls on the same day as the Summer Solstice! Cancer is a sensitive, empathic, and intuitive sign that feels it all. Our new moon theme for June is I Initiate Intuition and we’re working with Mugwort, Labdanum, and Owl as our teachers. The deeper magic of my New Moon Enchanted Plant Wisdom: Mugwort and Labdanum Set

The set is your initiation into the medicine of Mugwort, Labdanum, and guardian Owl. These three teachers will help you initiate intuition through their unique gifts, wisdom, and vibrations.

Mugwort is a protective, psychic, magical lunar herb with a long and rich folklore history. Ancient Romans believed it would protect and guide travelers and they planted it on roadsides and put it in their shoes. It’s believed that St. John the Baptist wore a girdle of mugwort into the wilderness. Mugwort is an herb of the Goddess in her crone phase that evokes wisdom and encourages observation. It also amplifies psychic vision, induces lucid and prophetic dreaming, and enhances astral travel. Mugwort, and all forms of Artemisia, are sacred to Artemis, goddess of the hunt, wild animals, nature, and the Moon.

Labdanum is one of the most highly valued scents in perfumery. It’s a sticky resin from Mediterranean Cistus, or Rock Rose, shrubs. Goats that graze on these plants get the resin stuck in their hair, which was traditionally collected by combing their beards. Labdanum is mysterious – sedating yet uplifting, and wonderful for meditation and contemplation. It has a glamorous, sexy essence, associated with solar deities and Venus. Labdanum was used to create perfumes in Aphrodite’s Temple and is rumored to be the top note in Julius Caesar’s favorite cologne. It’s also protective and evokes courage and strength.

The Owl and its call have long been omens of death, transition, wisdom, prophecy, and secrets. Owls are nocturnal with acute vision and hearing. Goddess Athena’s sacred animal was the owl and ancient Greeks believed owls had a magical inner light that gave them night vision. As a creature of the night, owl teaches you to look for what’s hidden. Owls represent the feminine and Moon but their yellow eyes symbolize the Sun and bringing the light to the darkness. Owl spirit animal medicine helps you develop your intuition and see and hear what others can’t. It can activate clairvoyance, clairaudience, and astral projection.

One (1) 3.4 oz Mugwort Incense Blend. This incense is a blend of mugwort and birch bark, to be burned during meditation, or anytime you feel called.

One (1) 1 oz Labdanum Initiation Balm. This sacred balm was made with a proprietary blend of ingredients, all of which are 100% natural and skin-safe. Our balms are elevated compared to other brands because we don’t take the easy route – instead of using a high ratio of beeswax, we combine four different kinds of butters and make this blend with 100% essential oils.

One (1) labradorite owl (about 3”). Labradorite is a gem favorite for any occasion or season, but it really shines when it comes to new beginnings and helps you go after your heart’s desires. This stone has brilliant fiery flashes of color that sparkle from its darkness. Like The Hermit in the Tarot, labradorite helps light your path to see your way through challenges. Associated with the New Moon, it embodies potential and is a great tool to work with when setting new moon intentions. Labradorite activates the Third Eye Chakra, opening your senses, enhancing vision, and making it possible to see the world fully, as it is around you.
