Our May 2018 AroMagic Set, Herbs and Oils for Mayan Native Ritual Magic is here! AroMagic is my course on aromatherapy and herbal magic. This year, we are exploring “A World of Magic,” where I take students through an exploration of global civilizations and meta-cultures. The herbs and oils covered in each class will be available for purchase every month in a special AroMagic set. Members will learn about the metaphysical properties of the herbs and oils, and how to use them to make hand-crafted products for personal use. Each month, we learn about the herbs and essential oils of a different civilization. Our exploration spans from ancient to contemporary times. Together, we tap into the power of these herbs and essential oils, infusing our own modern practices with their ancient magic.

Included in our discovery are each culture’s traditional culinary and medicinal practices, and the associated myth and lore. This set includes the oils and herbs that accompany May’s AroMagic class. Essential oils carry the energetic properties of the plant they were extracted from. Working with these sacred tools will deepen the medicinal energy of the plant through the power of aromatherapy. This is where the olfactory system, which is linked to our deepest subconscious, comes in. We literally tap into our deepest memories through the power of scent. The tools in my May 2018 AroMagic Set: Herbs and Oils for Mayan Native Ritual Magic

This May, we will explore the Herbs and Oils for Mayan Native Ritual Magic. Ancient Mayans were a peaceful and prosperous civilization that commonly practiced rituals of renewal. Ancient Mayans believed in the cycle of life, ever-maintaining the balance of Divine energy.  Each one of these herbs and oils was used in rituals native to their culture. In this AroMagic set, you will find an assortment of oils and herbs that will guide you to channel balance, prosperity and abundance in your life. I won’t reveal too much here, because we will be exploring the properties of these botanicals more deeply in our classroom this May – but I can tell you this is a special opportunity you absolutely won’t want to miss!

Included in this set are the following:

One (1) 5 ml bottle of tobacco absolute. Tobacco absolute is rare, it’s potent, and it’s one of the most sacred herbs to the Mayan culture. Evidence of this substance has been found in runes, and jars dedicated entirely to tobacco have been discovered. The use of tobacco was part of ritual work, as the strength of it lead to hallucinations that were said to bring prophetic visions from the gods. Tobacco has many protective qualities, and is known to promote peace, confidence, and personal strength. Each bottle of tobacco absolute has been infused with a clear quartz chip stone, for more abundant magic. This is the first time SG is offering an absolute suspended in jojoba as part of the AroMagic class tools! Tobacco absolute is cut to industry standard, and is nicotine free.

One (1) 5 ml bottle of allspice essential oil. Allspice was always incorporated in ancient Mayan ceremonies because it is a key ingredient in traditional Mayan cacao recipes. Often used for embalming, ancient Mayans would cover the deceased’s body with the leaves of allspice. Allspice was also used in Mayan prosperity rituals, as it attracts money and luck when burned. When the allspice tree is cut, there is a strong resemblance to the K’an cross through the branches, fruit, and leaves of the tree. The K’an cross is a symbol used throughout most ancient Mayan inscriptions and imagery. Each bottle of allspice essential oil has been infused with a clear quartz chip stone, for more abundant magic.

One (1) 1 oz tin of copal resin. Copal resin is considered “blood of trees”. It was (and still is) the most sacred resin used for rituals in the Mayan and Aztec cultures. The Mayans would burn copal resin as an offering to the gods, as it purifies and protects against the evil eye and demons of disease. Copal resin is also used for healing, love, divination, and medicine for various ailments. Copal resin is so versatile, it is also used as a binder for pigments on Mayan murals. The Aztecs used it as makeup, adhesive for masks, and in dentistry where copal was mixed with calcium phosphate to affix precious stones to teeth.

One (1) 1 oz tin of amaranth seeds. Amaranth was a sacred plant to the ancient Mayans, integral for bathing newborn babies in its healing properties. They believed that amaranth was the flower of immortality, and that its seeds provided great physical and spiritual strength. Amaranth seeds were also a key part of sacrificial ritual offerings to the gods in both ancient Mayan and Aztec civilizations – they believed the plant held extraordinary supernatural powers. Amaranth is said to heal the broken heart and spirit, and provide protection and invisibility.

As a bonus to this set, you will also receive one (1) dram of Mayan Magic. This is a sacred blend of tobacco absolute, cacao, and other sacred herbs all suspended in jojoba oil. Each of the oils used in this mixture was used in sacred Mayan rituals. This product is intended for aromatherapy use. For all other uses, dilute in carrier oil. Store tightly closed and away from direct sunlight.

However, when this is not possible, we gather items that we believe reflect the energy of this civilization. Athena will discuss in class which items are sourced from the country of focus, and which ones simply reflect or represent the energy of this civilization
