There are two equinoxes each year; the word equinox derives from the Latin words for “equal” and “night”. That’s because at the equinox, the length of day and night is equal. After the spring equinox, days grow longer; after the fall equinox, nights grow longer. Mabon tell us night is coming and winter is just beyond reach. The fields are almost barren as we’ve harvested our crops, and we prepare for the season of rest and reflection. This is your moment to choose which path you will venture forth on during the coming months. Will you choose the road less travelled? Only you can know.

The Sacred Sabbat of Mabon

We can gaze out across our land and see the space where new crops will grow in the spring, feeling reflective, mindful of the choices we have when planting. We think about the factors that influence what grows in our fields. What worked this year, and what didn’t? What adjustments can we make next year in order to produce stronger, healthier, and more sustainable crops? Turn these questions on yourself, and they become the platform for personal development that the fall equinox presents. How are we connecting to each other, to the Earth, to Source, and how can we connect differently or more powerfully through our intentions, our practices, our ceremonies? The tools of the Mabon Ritual Kit

First, my Mabon perfume. This is an deep, transitional blend has notes of frankincense, maple, oud (agar wood), and vanilla bean to aid your through your time of transition. And it’s been infused with a citrine chip stone for added presence in the moment, and bottled in a newly designed printed glass bottle. Use it to anoint yourself and your gems for ritual.

Next, is my Mabon candle. This candle is hand rolled using sheets of light gold and wine beeswax to symbolize the transition from summer to autumn. And each one is infused with my Mabon perfume, a citrine chip stone for added connection to the present moment, and adorned with custom SG artwork and a Mabon blessing for you to read aloud.

Then you will receive a magical hourglass. This is to symbolize the start of your new journey. Did you know that every time you flip over an hourglass, you agree to commence a new beginning? So as you flip this hourglass, reflect on where you wish to go – are you ready to embark? You know how I love “The Hero’s Journey” right? Well, in this first ever offering of an hourglass in a kit, I am offering you this tool of new beginnings; its a creation of space, and the filling of a void. So as we flip our hourglasses on Mabon, we are committing to begin our journey into the rest of the year. Lastly, I’ve included a shadow and light divination gem set consisting of two stones within a pouch. These are meant to invoke the ancient Hebrew lore of God’s divination stones Urim and Thummim. Howlite to represent Urim, the light, and the notion of “yes”; and black obsidian to represent Thummim, the shadows, and the notion of “no.” Keep them in the pouch, and as you traverse your path into the shadows, call upon these stones for guidance. When in doubt, ask them your question, and intuitively pull one from the pouch. It was believed that Urim represented God’s will.
