Our July 2018 Gem Wise Set: Paradise Gardens, the Essence of Beauty, is here! Gem Wise is my course on the magic of gemstones. This year, we are exploring “A World of Magic”, where I take students on an adventure into the spiritual practices of global civilizations and meta-cultures. The gemstones covered in each class relate to a specific theme and will be available for you to purchase every month in a special Gem Wise set.

Each month, we learn about the stones in the Gem Wise set, including their metaphysical properties and how to use them. Each set ties to a special theme and the focal civilization of the month. Our examination spans from ancient to contemporary times. Together, we tap into the power of these gems, infusing our own modern practices with their ancient magic. Included in our discovery are each culture’s associated myths and lore that have captivated imaginations for ages.

July 2018 Gem Wise Set: Paradise Gardens, the Essence of Beauty

This July, we are exploring the culture of ancient Persia. In this Gem Wise set, you will receive five very special gemstones inspired by Paradise Gardens, the Essence of Beauty.

Persians are known for the glamour and beauty with which they surround and adorn themselves. For over three thousand years, the Persian garden has been the ultimate imaginative creation of its people, and these magnificent gardens have greatly influenced Persian art and literature, and garden style and philosophy worldwide. Some of the most famous landmark gardens were inspired by the Persian pairadaeza which translates to enclosed garden and was later taken to mean “Garden of Eden” or “Paradise on Earth”. Paradise Gardens may be Persia’s greatest reflection of beauty. With an outpouring of heart and soul, they brought an oasis of heavenly solace to the desert where they lived – a manifestation of earthly paradise.

Paradise Gardens are said to be filled with all things fair and good that the earth can bring forth. Persian gardens were not reserved for the elite or wealthy. Every city had private and sometimes public gardens that were opened to everyone during Persian New Year celebrations. Iran (modern-day Persia) was built on the vision of a garden and in the garden, the earth, water, trees, flowers, and nature’s creatures take over the buildings – the heart of creation and life with its intoxicating fragrances and ripe fruits is protected, honored, and fully enjoyed. In these gardens, the heart is open and mind at ease. The resting place of fourteenth-century Persian poet Hafiz is in a Paradise Garden in Shiraz, Iran. In his words, we can feel this magical place: “When all your desires are distilled, you will cast just two votes, to love more, and be happy”.

Now, I will not reveal too much here, because we are excited with anticipation to explore these gems in our classroom this July. You won’t want to miss this class!

This set includes one (1) turquoise, one (1) moonstone, one (1) carnelian, one (1) auralite 23, and one (1) rainbow hematite.
