I love creating specialized healing sets, and this one has a distinct purpose: To heal early childhood and family trauma. This is the early family healing set, which addresses wounds from childhood and the family of origin. It comes with my Terra Perfume, almandine garnet, and honey calcite stones to help mend old wounds associated with familial difficulties.
Granted, not everyone has overwhelming family issues, but this gem set is powerful if you wish to have a better connection with your relatives. Honey calcite is the stone of compassion and mothering. It carries a distinct feminine energy and the bonding energy of motherhood. This stone aids in healing the “mother wound” or rekindling your maternal relationship. This is also an abundance stone, connecting you with the Great Mother energies of creation and procreation, bringing you fullness and prosperity on all levels.
Almandine garnet is a deep red, like the color of merlot wine. It activates the root chakra and is grounding. It reminds women of our divine sexuality. Throughout history, kings, queens, and warriors have worn garnet in their royal adornments and breastplates. Garnet represents higher order emotions and offers incredible strength to the bearer. It is also protective and calming.
In addition, you will have my Terra Perfume. This is a perfume to honor Mother Earth, and all the nurturing she provides for us. The land is sacred in almost all native and indigenous traditions and this potion, an homage to the ground beneath our feet that we share, that unites us despite our distance and difference. The notes are violets, earth, citrus accord, and Peru balsam. Terra is gentle, nurturing, and yet it offers a toughness to love that says you shall overcome.

This set, especially the perfume, brings you down to the root and sacral chakras to unearth and heal the pain and trauma you may have experienced as a child. It is gentle though while still supporting the “big work” of healing early childhood wounds.

I first put myself on the waiting list for this set last spring. Eventually I concluded that it was probably the lack of Coppernite that was keeping it out of stock, and tried ordering the Terra oil through the Perfume Insiders offering since I already have several pieces of honey calcite and was willing to try to work with sunstone in place of the Coppernite. I was thrilled to obtain Terra! If it ever comes back, either as part of this set or on its own, I can’t recommend it highly enough for those who love grounding scents. It’s very different from Athena’s other grounding, root-chakra-healing scents: the first word to come into my mind was “dulled”, which sounds unappealing, but merely means that there’s nothing spicy, spiky, tangy, or herby about it — just comfort. Earth is the note that comes through most strongly, along with violets, but not perfumy violets — fresh-picked violets laid on fresh-turned loamy earth. A flower-strewn warm comforting … grave?!? An earth blanket to wrap yourself in. I can’t make sound as appealing as it is. A grounding embrace. I’d give it ten stars if I could.
