This is because the lotus rises from muddy waters and blooms as a brilliantly pure, gorgeous flower. The lotus is also a symbol of human consciousness on the path to spiritual enlightenment. The lotus flower is a signature of Buddhism and is often paired in imagery with the Buddha himself or with the Om symbol – timeless reminders of all consciousness and the oneness of all things.
