I basically scoured the Earth to find incredible bismuth pieces, and was able to source these during my Tucson adventure. I’ve been saving them for you. In geode form, these are spectacular to behold. I revel in bringing you rare offerings, and this is one for the collectors.
Bismuth is a powerful crystalline metal, or metalloid, which is created by taking molten bismuth and pulling the metal up slowly on a rod, from which crystals emerge and harden. The structure is natural and rare in nature. You will not see this molecular structure anywhere else on the planet. Please note: bismuth is expensive. This price is practically wholesale, because I want to make these gems accessible.
Working with bismuth geodes

What a story! Wikipedia says “Bismuth is a chemical element with symbol Bi and atomic number 83…chemically resembles arsenic and antimony.” Also, they are used in cosmetics, pigments, and a few pharmaceuticals, notably bismuth subsalicylate, used to treat diarrhea.” Interesting – I haven’t read that about any other stone.
The FUN part is knowing that this is a metal, not a stone, and when it is heated hot enough to melt, it forms these beautiful iridescent stairs as the metal cools and oxidizes.
So in this beautiful form, it is man-made. But it is the metal that has a mind of it’s own & decides how it will react & form as it calms down from the heat. There’s a message there.
These eggs or palmstone pieces are like a Labyrinth. And you feel privileged to see & hold something so unique, something that has decided not to be like anything else, but just to be what it wants to be. Even when it’s original form is distorted, it refuses to accept being flat. It rises to new heights. And I love it all the more.
