Gem Wise is my course on the magic of gemstones. This year, we are exploring “A World of Magic”, where I take students through the history of global civilizations and metacultures. The gemstones covered in each class relate to a specific theme and will be available for you to purchase every month in a special Gem Wise set.

Each month, we learn about the stones in the Gem Wise set, including their metaphysical properties and how to use them. Each set ties to a special theme and the focal civilization of the month. Our examination spans from ancient to contemporary times. Together, we tap into the power of these gems, infusing our own modern practices with their ancient magic. Included in our discovery are each culture’s associated myths and lore that have captivated imaginations for ages.

April 2018 Gem Wise Set: Stones for Entering the Void

This April, we are exploring the culture of Minoa. Minoa was a very powerful matriarchy, perhaps the first, primary society ruled by women. This mysterious civilization thrived on the island of Crete and other Aegean islands, preceding ancient Greece. It’s unclear why the Minoan period ended. Mystery beckons us forward, reminding us of our own mystery. Minoa reconnects us with our ability to transform, leaving only traces of evidence to what we once were. We, just as she, can change, appear, and disappear.

In this Gem Wise set, you will receive five very special gemstones for entering the void – the void that is you. These stones will be your allies on a journey within yourself, down to your center, to help you reclaim more of your true self and emerge renewed. Now, I will not reveal too much here, because we are excited with anticipation to explore these gems in our classroom this April. Stones for Entering the Void were chosen with great intention. Those who choose to descend deeper within themselves are brave in their self-discovery, willing to confront their fears and reveal more truth. They uncover wisdom about the universe and themselves that will change their lives. These five stones work together to help you enter the space of yourself – the space that is greater, deeper, and richer than you can ever imagine. This set includes: one (1) green aragonite, one (1) merlinite, one (1) tumbled pinolith, one (1) dravite, and one (1) AAA grade clear quartz. You will also receive an engraved acrylic designed for gridding and holding the magic of Minoa and the intentions of these stones.

However, when this is not possible, we gather items that we believe reflect the energy of this civilization. Athena will discuss in class which items are sourced from the country of focus, and which ones simply reflect or represent the energy of this civilization.
