Bes was a dwarf god, revered in ancient Egypt as a god of childbirth, fertility, and war. The male counterpart of Beset, Bes was worshipped as a protector of households and in particular, of mothers, children, and childbirth. He later became regarded as the defender of everything good and would keep away anything that was of a lower vibration or frequency. Because of his protective nature, many families would place and keep a statue of Bes near the door to keep guard of the house.
