Our February 2018 AroMagic Set: Herbs and Oils for Soul Preservation is here! AroMagic is my co-ed course on aromatherapy and herbal magic. This year, we are exploring “A World of Magic” as I take students through the history of global civilizations and metacultures. The herbs and oils covered in each class will be offered to you in a special AroMagic Set, available for purchase every month. Members will learn about the metaphysical properties and uses of the herbs and oils are, and how to use them to make DIY products for at-home use.

Each month we will learn about the herbs and essential oils of a focal civilization with a specific theme. Our focus will span from ancient times to the common era. Together, we will tap into the power of these herbs and essential oils by country, civilization, and theme, harnessing it together to infuse our modern practice with the magic of all time. We will also explore each civilization’s medicinal and culinary use of herbs.

This set is aligned with the herbs and oils we will study in February. Aromatherapy is one of my soul passions and talents, and I hope to share it with as many of you as possible. With this listing, you can purchase the herbs and oils we are going to cover in class. Because essential oils come from plants, they carry the energetic properties of the plant they were extracted from. So when you work with these sacred tools, you’re layering the energy of the plant medicine with the magic of aromatherapy. This is where the olfactory system, which is strongly linked to our deepest subconscious, comes in. We can literally tap into our deepest memories through the power of scent.

February 2018 AroMagic Set: Herbs and Oils for Soul Preservation

First, the herbs of February. You will receive one (1 oz) tin of each of these loose herbs: fenugreek and willow bark. Now, I can’t reveal too much here because we will be covering these herbs in our classroom in February. You don’t want to miss it!

Fenugreek (Trigonella foenum-graecum)

Fenugreek is native to the Middle East and considered to be one of the oldest medicinal plants. It is popular in the kitchen, used in a variety of dishes. Ancient Egyptians used fenugreek to treat respiratory infections and illnesses, and has long been supportive of women during their childbirth years.. Fenugreek is trusted to bring about luck, wealth, happiness, overall wellness, and beauty. It is an ingredient in an ancient oil believed to transform an elderly man into a man of youth.

Willow bark (genus Salix)

Willow bark dates back to 400 BC, the time of Hippocrates, and it has been used in China and Europe for centuries. In the old days, people were advised to chew on willow bark to reduce fever and inflammation, and it is still used to relieve pain today. Willow bark is sometimes called Witches Aspirin, as it contains salicin, a chemical very similar to aspirin. In the 1800’s, salicin was used to develop aspirin. Willow bark is used for new moon magic, to “draw down the moon”, and for creativity, fertility, inspiration, protection, and love. Willow is known as the Tree of Immortality, for it can regrow from a fallen branch in damp ground.

The essential oils we will work with in February are galbanum and marjoram. You will receive one (1) 5 ml bottle of each oil.

Galbanum (Ferula galbaniflua)

Galbanum is a resinous gum obtained from a family of giant fennels, native to Southern Europe, North Africa, and Western Asia. It is believed to have originated in Iran. Hebrews used galbanum in anointing oils, and Ancient Egyptians used it in religious ceremony and embalming. Galbanum was a trusted remedy for skin conditions, including inflammation and ulcers, and used for snake and insect bites. This aromatic essential oil is also widely used in perfumery.

Marjoram (Origanum majorana)

Marjoram is a perennial herb with sweet pine and citrus flavors. Beyond its culinary uses, marjoram has been utilized to evoke and increase love, prosperity, protection, psychic development, comfort, peace, and unity. It is linked with happiness – everlasting happiness in this life and beyond. Marjoram was used in rituals for the dead, and the Greeks believed it signified joy in the afterlife when found thriving on graves. When grown in the garden or house, marjoram is known to provide a shield from negative energy.
