The deeper magic of this 9×9 Black Obsidian Power Cube

Black obsidian activates the lower chakras, in particular the Root and Earth Star Chakras, and is a powerful stone of purification and healing. This protective gem creates a clear channel and space for you to move and flow without obstruction. It’s an excellent companion when letting go of past trauma or any energies that no longer serve you.

Obsidian is an amorphous stone, technically called an amorphous solid. Amorphous solids are formed due to the sudden cooling of a liquid, melt over a wide range of temperatures, and break to form irregular or curved shapes. The structure of an amorphous solid is virtually indistinguishable from a liquid. They’re commonly described as solids that flow like liquids, or liquids that don’t flow. There is an inherent quality of mysteriousness in these formations – a mutability creating room for transitions, flexibility, and movement even in solidification. Amorphous stones exemplify change – the whole process of changing, and the wisdom found in what may not be as it seems.

The cube, or hexahedron, is a universal sacred shape – one of the Platonic Solids. It’s a three-dimensional symbol of grounding and focus. Cubes are associated with the Earth element and correspond with the Root Chakra, but they also honor all four directions and cardinal elements. The nine facets on each face of this cube represent cycle completion. In so many traditions around the world, the number nine embodies the closing of cycles and endings that always precede new beginnings. This makes it a powerful tool to work with at the New Moon.
