Red jasper is a very special and powerful stone. It has been noted throughout history in the most ancient of cultures. We find the name traces back to Arabic, Persian, Hebrew, Assyrian, Greek and Latin; all the oldest of languages have a word for jasper. The most noted physicians, magicians, poets, scientists, lapidaries and scholars have been singing the praises of jasper for centuries. Ancient Egyptians carved protective amulets of this stone, engraving them with the 156th chapter of The Book of the Dead, to place around the neck of their deceased. It is also thought that the original ruby mentioned in the Bible was actually red jasper.
It’s rust red color is attributed to iron and it’s a potent Root Chakra stone, promoting feelings of security and grounding. Today it is know as The Stone of Endurance for its empowering and lasting stimulation of Chi – Life Force.
